Living in Rockhampton? Access to specialist services in Brisbane over 600km away can be difficult for many, to say the least. At almost seven hours drive, or hundreds of dollars in flights, specialist hospital centres in the capital can be far from reach for those living in and around Rockhampton.
Dr Nanda visits Rockhampton fortnightly for consulting and procedures.
Offering consults and procedures at Mater Misericordiae Hospital Rockhampton, Dr Nanda’s specialist gastroenterological services bring expertise, quality and highly experienced medical care to Rockhampton and central Queensland. As a Staff Specialist at the Mater Hospital Brisbane and QE II Jubilee Hospital, Dr Nanda is able to offer the knowledge base and specialist procedural skills usually only available in major tertiary hospitals.
Specialist Care, Locally
Seeing a specialist is a necessity for many people, be it for treatment advice, surgery or a diagnosis. Even at the best of times, a long drive or an expensive flight adds stress to what is often already a stressful time, and the idea of having to stay overnight or longer far from home for surgery is a barrier for many of us.
What if I could do it all locally? With my family just around the corner?
Based in Brisbane but visiting Rockhampton fortnightly, Dr Nanda is a highly qualified consultant gastroenterologist and therapeutic endoscopist.
Graduating with honours from the National University of Ireland, Dr Nanda completed Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology speciality training in Dublin and further advanced inflammatory bowel disease subspecialty training at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre in Boston, USA.
Moving to Australia for further advanced training in 2012, Dr Nanda achieved qualifications in therapeutic endoscopy at the world-renowned Westmead Hospital Endoscopy unit in Sydney.
His areas of interest include:
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Colorectal cancer screening
- Open access endoscopy
- Therapeutic endoscopy (ERCP, EUS, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection, luminal stenting)
- Pancreaticobiliary diseases
- Functional disorders of the gut
Dr Nanda is an accomplished and active researcher, with numerous publications in his areas of interest. He is currently a senior lecturer with the University of Queensland and was also a clinical tutor for the University of Sydney and Harvard Medical School, Boston MA.
